Tim Kamps plays extensively with orchestras across Wisconsin and the Midwest

Violinist Timothy Kamps is a member of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and the Madison Symphony Orchestra and has also served as Associate Concertmaster of the Dubuque and La Crosse Symphony Orchestras. Besides a full calendar of orchestral performances, Tim enjoys collaborating with other chamber musicians, including a Midwest recital series in summer 2014 and a residency at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with the Kipperton String Quartet. In recent years Tim has soloed with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Dubuque Symphony, Middleton Community Orchestra, and UW-Platteville Symphony, and he has also performed as concertmaster with the Wisconsin Philharmonic, on Wisconsin Public Radio's The Midday, as a featured performer for Madison Symphony gala events and with the Capital City Theatre.

Tim began violin lessons at age 4 with Everett Goodwin at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Suzuki Talent Education Center and later studied with Roland and Almita Vamos at the Music Institute of Chicago and Vartan Manoogian and Felicia Moye at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was awarded the Patricia A. Cheney scholarship, served as concertmaster of the UW Chamber Orchestra, and received his Bachelor of Arts in Violin Performance. Tim and his wife Laura Mericle live in Madison.
