John Kraniak has been Development Data Coordinator at the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra since August of 2023. In that capacity he works to ensure accuracy and timeliness of the Orchestra’s Tessitura database.
John brings many years of experience to this position, including periods in government and several non-profit organizations. He has served in management, research and programming roles over the years. He holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Wisconsin—Madison.
John has served on numerous boards and committees including terms as president of the Friends of Overture, president of the WORT-FM board of directors and currently president of the Madison Music Collective board of directors. He is a long-time volunteer at WORT-FM hosting his program called “Entertainment” of classic jazz, swing and blues since 1979. In addition to presenting musical selections, he has had to opportunity to interview many musicians including Doc Severinson, Sonny Rollins, Regina Carter, Ben Sidran, Dick Hyman, John Harbison, Karlos Moser and WCO’s own Andrew Sewell.
John has been a member of several folk and contra dance bands over the years and has performed in all the New England states, New York, New Jersey, all the Midwestern states, Kentucky and Texas.
In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar and gardening.
