The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra’s performance of Handel’s most well-known work, Messiah, returns for the 12th year. After a two-season hiatus, this holiday tradition returns with the WCO alongside soloists Sarah Lawrence, Kirsten Larson, Gene Stenger, and Christopher Burchett, and a chorus of 22 select singers from Madison and Milwaukee areas. The Presenting Sponsors are Stephen and Laurel Brown, with Choir Sponsors Dr. Jun and Sandy Lee.
The live performance takes place on Wednesday, December 8 at 7:00 PM at First Congregational United Church of Christ at 1609 University Avenue in Madison.
Tickets are now on sale for $17.50 each when you buy two or more–50% off the single ticket price of $35. Seating is general admission, and tickets can be purchased at overture.org, wcoconcerts.org and at the venue, day of the performance.
The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra’s performance of Handel’s Messiah, the only production of this work in Madison. Joining the WCO for this year’s Messiah will be Guest Conductor Scott Foss, known throughout the United States as a conductor and clinician of both sacred and secular choral music, and who serves as the classical and concert choral editor for Hal Leonard Publishing, the world's largest music publisher.
Doors open at 6:30 PM. The run time is 2 hours, 20 minutes. Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 and masks are required in the venue.
Parking for the event includes three First Congregational Church parking lots on Lathrop Street, with additional parking available at UW Foundation and UW Engineering Buildings.
