A Wisconsin Celebration
Wisconsin musicians take center stage in this concert! Opening with works by Debussy, Florence Price and Aaron Copland, we close with a special arrangement of Leotha Stanley’s Be A Friend Medley. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear the Community Choir, Middleton High School Choir, and Ho-Chunk drummer Eric Logan and the Little Priest Singers as we celebrate 25 years of school music advocacy with Madison Public Schools.
About Eric Logan
Eric Logan is an enrolled tribal member of the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin. The Ho-Chunk people consist of 12 clans. Eric is a member of the Bear Clan. When Eric was young and attended a Native American Church ceremony his grandfather Benjamin Bearskin Sr., bestowed upon him his Ho-Chunk name, “Hoonch Chini Ki-ga” which translates to “The Bear That Stands Alone”.
Being born and raised on Milwaukee’s southside Eric was taught by his parents about being Ho-Chunk, the history of his family, their traditions, stories, and their songs and dances. All his life Eric has traveled to powwows throughout the United States as a fancy feather war dancer and has become a competitive champion, even dancing on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field.
Having attended San Diego State University Eric is a certified casino games trainer with Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells and a motivational speaker that focuses on cultural awareness and diversity among our youth. Eric is one of the founding members of the family-based marketing group Tribalized Entertainment, which specializes in promoting the Ho-Chunk people and other Native American Inter-Tribal Cultural events through presentations of educational lecture, storytelling, song, and dance performances.
