About the Residency

The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra presents Patrice Rushen as its 2026–27 Artist in Residence. An acclaimed composer, pianist, recording artist, and 2026 NEA Jazz Master, Rushen’s career spans classical, pop, jazz, and now symphonic music. Across four visits to Madison, the residency will follow that same spirit of exploration, bringing Rushen and the WCO into cultural spaces throughout the city. With support from American Family Insurance, the residency reflects the WCO’s role as a cultural ambassador—connecting artists, audiences, and institutions while expanding what an orchestra can be and where it can go.
