The WCO and WYSO perform together

The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra collaborates with the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras for this Side by Side concert. Young musicians from WYSO's Philharmonia join seasoned musicians from the WCO to perform on the Hamel Music Center stage. This initiative kickstarts with a day of rehearsals and mentoring activities then culminates in a final performance.

Philharmonia Orchestra alongside the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra will perform:
Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 by Franz Liszt, arranged by Karl Muller-Berghaus
Symphonie Espagnole in D minor, Op. 21, Mvt. 1 by Edouard Lalo (with Lorenz Fradkin-Annen, violin)
Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

PHILHARMONIA ORCHESTRA COMPETITION WINNER LORENZ FRADKIN-ANNEN, VIOLIN

Lorenz Fradkin-Annen, 12, is an eighth grade student at Oregon Middle School in Oregon, WI. Renz had her solo debut in November 2023 with the Madison Symphony Orchestra, giving five performances after winning their Fall Youth Concerto competition.

This past summer she was a finalist in the Interlochen Intermediates concerto competition. She has also earned two WSMA Exemplary Performance awards, and won awards in the Nie Young Artist Scholarship Competition (violin) and the Rhapsody Arts Center Sonatina Festival (piano). She plays bassoon and violin in Philharmonia and has also served as concertmaster.

In addition to WYSO she studies piano with Vincent Fuh, bassoon with Carol Rosing, and performs in MadFiddle, a Madison violin ensemble led by Shauncey Ali. Renz would like to thank her current violin teacher Eugene Purdue and her former teacher Maureen McCarty.
