Fanfare on the Square

Celebrate Independence Day in grand style with Fanfare on the Square, by the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra! Weaving together contemporary and classical gems, audiences can expect all their favorites such as 1812 Overture, Stars and Stripes Forever, and the Armed Forces Salute, paired with more contemporary works. Hear Grammy-nominated artist Patrice Rushen with Fanfare and Fantasie, and the soundtrack from popular movie Nope by 2023 Pulitzer Prize-winning and Emmy- and Grammy-nominated composer Michael Abels.

About Darryl Taylor

Darryl Taylor's performances have been noted for their compelling artistry and authority. His is an international career highlighted by performances of art song, opera and oratorio. Opera highlights: title role in Phillip Glass' Akhnaten for Long Beach Opera; L.A. Opera’s Dido and Aeneas; Purcell’s The Fairy Queen and King Arthur for Long Beach Opera; Pergolesi and Vivaldi Stabat Mater with Lyra Baroque Orchestra of St. Paul, Minnesota; performances with the Carmel Bach Festival; Theodora with Bach Collegium San Diego under Richard Egarr, Solomon with the City Choir of Washington under Robert Shafer and performances at New York’s Carnegie Hall. Founder of the African American Art Song Alliance, his extensive discography of recordings on Naxos and Albany record labels has received lavish praise. He was recently inducted to the American Academy of Teachers of Singing, and served as a 2022 Master Teacher for the NATS Intern Program.

About Middleton High School Choir

The Middleton High School Choirs in the Middleton Cross Plains Area School District enjoy a rich tradition of musical excellence. The high school choral department includes three curricular choirs, the extra-curricular Chamber Singers ensemble, and the student-led Bristol Street ensemble. Each school year includes traditional choral concerts, an annual musical, a winter Tour de Middleton, a Country Breakfast fundraiser performance, Fine Arts Week presentations, and “Concerts on the Square” with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. Many students also actively participate in Wisconsin School Music Association events such as Solo & Ensemble Festivals and the High School State Honor Choirs. MHS Choir students have the opportunity to perform and create lifelong memories around the world while on the biennial music tours, and they most recently traveled to Puerto Rico in 2023.
