Nora Frisk holds a bachelor of music degree in viola performance from the University of Illinois and a Master of Music degree in viola performance from the University of Wisconsin. She has been principal violist of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra since 1987, and she also performs with the Kalamazoo Symphony and the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra. She has performed throughout the midwest and made her New York debut with the New World Symphony under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas.

Although Ms. Frisk has a classical music background, she enjoys other genres of music. She is a member of the LaSte' Duo, which is comprised of viola and steel drums and which presents concerts and educational programs featuring reggae, calypso, classical, and popular music. The duo has recently commissioned a work for viola, steel drums and orchestra. She also enjoys performing classical chamber music with the Stringsound Ensembles based in Northwest Indiana.

In 2000 Ms. Frisk was appointed adjunct viola professor at Notre Dame University, a position which she previously held at Valparaiso University. She also has a large private studio of more than 30 students. As an active teacher and freelance musician, she brings a creative style, powerful playing, and intense personal expression with her wherever she performs.

Between teaching and performing, she enjoys reading, gardening, and athletic activities.
