Masterworks V - Chansons d'Amour

Guest Artist: Susanna Phillips, soprano

HAYDN | Symphony No. 83 in G Minor (La poule)
CANTELOUBE | Selections from Chants d’Auvergne
MOZART | “Non mi dir, bell’idol mio” from Don Giovanni
MOZART | Bella mia fiamma, addio – Resta, oh cara, K. 528
BEETHOVEN | Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 36

We are thrilled to welcome back Susanna Phillips, the singing sensation who thrilled the audience at Concerts on the Square in 2011. Canteloube’s Songs of the Auvergne are filled with love, humor, passion and charm. It is difficult to pare them down to just five for this concert, yet juxtaposed with the two Mozart arias, it will be an unforgettable evening. Haydn’s Symphony No. 83 (the Hen) shows the master in his middle period, delighting his audience with special effects, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2, concludes our season with a bang.
